European Elections 2009

Below are the regions and the number of MEPs for each region. The elections take place on 4th June 2009 and the results will announced on 7th June 2009. Green’s Diary will be covering the results in full with a live blog on the main page.

There are 12 electoral regions in the UK and each region returns a varying number of MEPs. These are shown in brackets next to each region They are elected using a list system so electors vote for a party rather than person and the higher share of the vote that a party receives results in more candidates elected.
