About

Green’s Diary is a blog providing news, views and reviews on a variety of subjects including politics, current affairs, technology and history.

About the editor:

Green’s Diary is run by Stewart Green, a Conservative Party member from London, currently studying History at the University of Glasgow. As a card carrying Conservative I am naturally sympathetic to many of the views of the Conservative Party, however I do not speak for them in any official capacity on this blog and as such views expressed on this blog are my own personal ones and should thus be treated as as such. I am a member of the Conservative Party is for three main reasons. “Firstly, I believe that individuals should be free from state intervention as much as possible. Secondly, I have a passion for social justice and thirdly I believe  in small government. I joined the Conservative Party because it is only the Conservatives who stand for these three main principles. My personal conservatism can probably be best described as a fiscal liberal interventionist. I believe in balanced books and only spending what can be afforded. I also believe that every individual should be allowed to conduct their life free from state interference or control as much as possible. However, where someone consistently proves they are incapable of conducting their life alone in a fashion that is conducive to societal harmony, someone who can run their life should be able to interfere with that person so as they do not cause harm to either themselves and or society.”

My political hero is Winston Churchill. “I have long been an admirer of him both as a true gentleman and as a politician. A man with many talents from making speeches through to painting art, he was what one might term as a typically British man. When I look at him as a politician, I see a man who stood up for this country when others did not, a man who saw what was happening in Europe and a man who fought a long a hard war to ensure that we are a free and independent country now.”
