Playing Catch-up

Guido reported yesterday that Derek Draper is co-ordinating the Labour comeback in the internet world.

For quite a while now, it is the Conservative bloggers who have held the upper ground.  Labour have been behind for a variety of reasons, but perhaps the main reason is that Labour people don’t know what they actually want to achieve on the Internet.

Conservative Home has proved to be an invaluable tool in keeping people ion touch with goings on in the Conservative Party, whilst not being an official Conservative party website. In reply to ConHome, Labour Home was set up which,is quite simply a waste of space.

Blogging is about opinion and Labour Home tends to shy away from opinions, thus defeating the point of it’s existence.

You would of thought that Labour being the party of the people and future thinking persons, it would be they that were embracing new technologies. However, the reality is that the political blogsphere is being run by those ‘dark age’ people who can’t connect to the man on the street – The Conservatives. Or maybe, it’s the Conservatives, who far from being stuck in the past are the ones who are the most forward thinking.

Whatever the outcome of Draper’s conference today, it would apear that Draper himself will be joining the blogsphere in the near future. I bet you’re all looking forward to that aren’t you?
